UAW members in California are coming together to vote Yes on Prop 50.
UAW members across California are doing life-saving research every day.
But funding for these projects is on the line as Donald Trump and Republicans continue to slash funding for research and medical care.
Now, the Trump administration wants to put permanent Republican majorities in Congress to slow progress, eliminate good union jobs, and hurt California’s economy.
YES on Prop 50 will allow us to fight back.
Since 2015, the $40 billion of annual NIH spending has been one of the American people’s smartest investments — saving millions of lives, creating millions of jobs, and producing hundreds of billions of dollars in economic prosperity. And billions more in investments to NSF, NOAA, and NASA funding that help protect us from wildfires, severe weather, and other natural disasters.

But this funding is under threat. Since January, the Trump administration has unilaterally canceled billions in research grants including $500 million in California alone – money that funds studies of Alzheimer’s Disease, breast cancer, opioid addiction, and natural disaster prevention and response. And Trump’s 2026 budget includes further massive cuts to NIH, NSF, NOAA, and NASA compared to 2025. This cut would jeopardize breakthroughs in cancer and chronic disease treatment, as clinical trials close down, and experiments stop, and make us less prepared for wildfires and severe weather. If Republicans in Congress approve Trump’s budget, it will mean $44 billion cut in federal research investment.
